About the Speakers

Neal Legan, Managing Director, Corporate Finance

Neal has over 30 years of experience in commercial lending and risk management. Prior to his current Business Development position dedicated to Corporate Finance, he was the National Portfolio Manager for the CIT Commercial & Industrial West portfolio, in which he managed a team of professionals responsible for a senior secured lending portfolio of commitments up to $1.6 billion. Prior to joining CIT, Neal spent 7 years as a Lending Officer for HSBC Business Loans sourcing new lending facilities and managing a portfolio of senior secured transactions. Previously Neal was a Vice President with Signal Capital for 7 years, including positions in risk administration, credit analysis, portfolio management and field examination management. Neal also worked for Wilson Foods Corporation in the accounting and finance functions as a financial analyst. Neal’s areas of expertise include a wide range of products, including Asset Based and Cash Flow lending, Equipment Finance, Acquisition, Recapitalization, Bankruptcy and Exit financing, across a broad range of industries. Neal graduated in May 1980 from Indiana University with a B.S in Finance from the Kelley School of Business.

Jason Stewart, Senior Vice President / Regional Business Development Manager

Managing Director of Business Development for the asset-based lending group of a national bank; Senior Structuring Officer and Managing Director of Business Development at CIT Energy; CFO of Enerven Compression LLC, a sponsor-backed energy services company; Regional Underwriting Manager and National Underwriting Manager at The CIT Group, and CEO and Director of Themis Capital Corporation. Jason has a BS in Business Administration from Colorado State University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

John Tyler, SVP, Senior Regional Manager, PNC Business Credit

John has been with PNC Business Credit for over 14 years. Prior to then, he was a commercial lender with Whitney National Bank for over five years. John earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University.

Jeff Merritt, Merritt Advisors

Jeff Merritt is a principal at Merritt Advisors. He has 23 years of corporate restructuring, operational improvement and interim management experience. He has been responsible for the corporate restructuring and operational improvement of over 60 companies. He has broad experience in manufacturing, distribution, oil and gas, construction and business services industries. Mr. Merritt has served as interim CEO, CFO, CRO and financial advisor to boards of directors, owners and lenders for both financial and operational turnarounds, as well as companies in transition. He has also acted as financial advisor in bankruptcy cases to sell company operations and advise both debtors and creditors on financial matters.
