The Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce is the largest business leadership organization in the region. The Chamber effectively focuses upon economic prosperity and quality of life issues important to the entire area. We are the leading business development and economic development organization for the region. The role of the chamber has become increasingly important as we try to improve the local economy. The Chamber consists of 3,000 businesses located in 88 different cities in the region.

Lyssa Jenkens is Chief Economist and Vice President of Business Information & Research with the Greater Dallas Chamber.  The Business Information & Research Department provides publications, technical assistance and custom research to support business and economic development in the greater Dallas area.  

Prior to joining the Chamber in 2001, Dr. Jenkens was the Vice President for Research Services at M/PF Research in Carrollton where she provided a wide range of information services to the multifamily housing industry.   Dr. Jenkens managed the demographic research program for the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) throughout the 1990s. 

A native “Dallasite,” Dr. Jenkens is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas, with a Ph.D. and Masters of Arts in Political Economy as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  Dr. Jenkens is very active in professional and community organizations.   She has served as a member of the Dallas Morning News’ Board of Economists, chaired the Metro Dallas United Way Community Needs Assessment, taught classes for C2ER’s professional certification program in economic development research and now serves on their board.  She currently holds an ACCE/Ford Foundation Fellowship to study sustainable regional development, serves as an advisor for the NCTCOG regional forecast program and chairs the Dallas Women’s Foundation Research Task Force.
