Huntley Paton has worked since 1986 for
American City Business Journals, the parent company of the
Dallas Business Journal. He began his career as a
reporter, covering various industries for ACBJ papers in San
Francisco, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C. He first came
to Dallas in 1990 as managing editor of the Dallas Business
Journal and then spent three years in Pittsburgh as editor of
the Pittsburgh Business Times. Mr. Paton also worked on
the startup of Biz Magazine, which was a national small-business
monthly published jointly by ACBJ and Dow Jones.
Mr. Paton returned to Dallas in 1995 as editor of the Dallas
Business Journal and was named publisher in June 1996, with
overall responsibility for operations in the Dallas market.
Mr. Paton is a frequent public speaker on business issues and
has been a regular business commentator for local radio and
television stations.
The Dallas Business Journal (DBJ) covers the North Texas economy
with news on local companies, executives and business trends,
with a special emphasis on covering the small business
community. The DBJ is one of the oldest and largest
publications of its kind in the country. ACBJ, its parent,
currently owns 41 business journals across the United States.
ACBJ also owns Bizjournals.com, a national business-news web
site, and Bizwomen.com, a news site for female executives.
ACBJ is owned by Advance Publications Inc. of New York, which
owns the New Yorker, Wired, GQ, Vanity Fair, Conde Nast,
Architectural Digest, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Portland
Oregonian, and dozens of other publications.
