Before establishing The Weston Group in 1997, Dan Weston served as Vice President of Human Resources for Greyhound Lines, Inc. and General Manager of a national consulting firm specializing in organizational change and career transition.  Dan spent fifteen years at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University where he was responsible for External Affairs and Executive Education.  While at SMU, Dan also taught in the Executive MBA Program and served as Associate Dean for eight years.  Earlier positions include Vice President of Research for an oil field service company, various management positions in marketing and human resources, chemist, and Navy Supply Corps Officer.  He has served as Chair of the Child Care Group and as a director of numerous other non-profit organizations.

The Weston Group consults with executives on individual and organizational effectiveness.  Through diagnosis, design, consultation/training, and follow-up, clients are empowered to produce improved performance and results.  The Weston Group has led consulting projects that created value for over 70 organizations in a wide variety of industries, organization sizes, and performance issues.

As Principal of The Weston Group, Dan conducts assignments individually and in alliance with other consults.  Facilitation of executive planning meetings and executive coaching represent a major portion of the Weston Group work.


As a Gazelles International coach using the “Mastering the Rockefeller Habits” practices, Dan supports executive teams in developing strategy, alignment and focus that produce remarkable results.

  • Facilitated the turn-around of a youth apparel manufacturer through quarterly planning sessions and CEO coaching.

  • Consulting team member in a major change project for a large mining company with seven unions resulting in improved profitability.
     

  • Coached the CEO of a large healthcare company on numerous organizational and people performance issues.

Education

Dan has a BA in Chemistry from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard University.  His continuing education includes numerous executive education programs, highlighted by a year long Executive Excellence Program at the Center for Management Design. In addition, Dan participated in the 1997 Harvard Business School’s Odyssey Program, a journey of self-exploration and career renewal.
